While I was on the subway the other day I met a Russian woman. I was riding the subway the other day because all the Nerd Herd vehicles were already in use. I only had to go to downtown LA from Burbank, so that wasn't too much of a problem. I jumped on the Metro #94 and was on Grand Avenue before you could shake a stick.
Once I was in downtown, I found the office that had the bad wireless. It wasn't too hard to figure out. Jeff or Lester, I know one of them had done the install, I don't know which one, had crossed the MAC address with the TCP/IP stack address, making the hub and server's crosstalk, so that each packet was switched to itself, rather then the ... it's like sending an email to yourself. It doesn't accomplish very much, because you probably don't listen to what you have to say anyway. (hahahahhaha -- ROFLOL).
As the BuyMore was charging the minimun 3 hours service call and as I only needed 15 minutes to isolate and repair the problem, I told the office manager that I had to go to the 'Central Office' and run some "line quality checks". That left me with about 2 hours to kill. So, off I went to check out the downtown babes. Now I must tell you that there is no park or bench to sit at anywhere along Grand Avenue. The bus stops don't even have bus benches. So I had to walk about half-a-mile to get to a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (LA version of Starbuck's) and the babeage wasn't all that hot.
Coming back on the Metro, however was another matter. I met this gal who was staring at a Metro map. She was obviously lost, and I helped her avoid getting too lost. (Purple line vs. Red line). Her name was Irene Demova and we talked quite a while. I don't think she is a 'porn star'. There was something too 'down to earth' about her. She was visiting the U.S. and is going to San Francisco, next. I told her to try l'Osteria del Forno in North Beach.
