It was my first day, yesterday. I've worked in retail before, but it still did not prepare me for what was to come.
First off, the customers apparently could not read my "In Training" badge (even though it had huge, bold print). They would ask me questions about things like the specs on the new "Surface" tables, which I know next to nothing about. I know electronics (that's how I got the job) but it's still overwhelming a bit. Next, I tried to get help from my fellow employees. Lester told me new employee "initiation" was to ask Miss Wu out on a date. Thankfully Morgan (the boyfriend, apparently) was understanding and stepped in before I was to be thrown into "the Cage". As a fellow Green Shirt, he showed me around the store and told me the best places where you can sleep without Big Mike and the cameras catching you. Later I dropped a box full of demo discs for "Call of Duty: World at War" because I tripped over Jeff taking a nap in such a place. I also followed Green Shirt Casey around the store, kind of like a job shadow, to see how he does, as he has the highest sales record ever in the store. Apparently he didn't like me following him around to see what he does all day. Chuck informed not to take it personally, Casey's suspicious of every person equally. To wrap it all up, I would still have to say I had one of the best days ever working at any job. Most of the (intelligent) customers were very nice to talk with, and my fellow employees are cool people that I'm sure will make everyday interesting, if not a bit eccentric. |

Sorry I haven't talked to you sooner at the store, but welcome to Buy More! We're actually quite a decent place to work with once you get past everyones' weird behaviors.

Yeah, I'd have to say that my first day was not very pretty.
Big Mike (please oh please don't read this), when I asked about training, didn't look up from his danish and said to talk to Morgan. I asked Morgan, who referred me to Jeff. Jeff just kinda looked hazed (do you guys ever smell beer in his breath) Who, after much moaning, referred me to Chuck, who was interrupted in telling me where to go by a blonde hottie (about a 9 on the Leikman Scale) who said something about a cipher and they both walked quickly out of the store. (Do you guys know that Chuck takes breaks whenever he wants?) Yeah, well, I went over to a couple of Nerd Herders, who seemed intelligent, until I got closer and realized they were arguing about whether or not Spam (the jellied meat) would cause permanent damage to Claire, and whether or not Sylar has really changed for the better. They then introduced themselves as Lester and Ana, which the latter eyed Morgan in a funny way quickly. I looked over to the registers for some, (hopefully) responsible people (I mean, they work with money, so they have to be kind of responsible, right?). No such luck. I looked back out over the sales floor, and there were NO sales associates there. I looked in the break room, where I heard chanting. Here's a tip for newcomers: NEVER go into the breakroom as a newbie-salesman when you here chanting. Either it's Jeff yelling at the TV on the wall, which, by the way, was turned off, or its their bi-weekly mystery crisper event. I was force-fed something that was labeled from the 80's. WOW. Not pretty. Before they forced me to eat something that looked like excrement, Chuck came in and saved the day. He's probably one of the only sane people there, man. By the end of the day, I had made two (2) sales to customers, and had 28 year old mush-breath. But I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. What a RUSH, I mean, daily routine, yeah, but not 'normal' daily routine. The Burbank Buy More has more variety than VH1 I love the 80's. (which I DON'T). The only way you could get that kind of exhilaration is if you were like, forced to work for the CIA or NSA, or something, yet have no formal training and live a normal life half the time. But that's crazy, right? -------------------- www.bashemmettrudely.com

This is actually like me third week at the store. Everyone that works on Sundays knows who I am. For those I haven't met, check me out at the Club Image on Saturday Nights. The Club is not far from the store, just bring your Buy More badge and you get in for free but you'll have to pay me when you get inside.
That new assistant Manager guy didn't tell Big Mike about my pay raise so I need the money....Oh crap he's looking at me right now. |

First day!!!!!
So far I've been asigned Bathroom Cleanup by Lester (what is with his hair???) I met jeff, who asked me where he was and then proceded to pass out. Morgan has been kind of following me around, he has parasitic tendencies I've noticed in the first few hours. The new Assitant Manager Emitt is rather scary, he should have a full mental examination. The much talked about Chuck was nowhere to be seen but Big Mike told me to shadow John Casey, a fellow Green shirter. Casey (as he prefers to be called) was pretty rough and slightly abrasive. He didn't interact with any customers but he is kinda cute so I didn't mind having to follow him around for the day. I wonder how tomorrow is going to go. <3 Sarah Lynne <3 |

Hi there.. my first week over. Have to say not bad as first weeks go (was in the cage - no customers!) but bit worried about the new manager. Big Mike interviewed me and have to say I think the subway swung it in my favour but this new manager isn't bought so easily and seems happy enough making everyone else's lives hell! Guess its worth sticking around to see what else Jeff and Lester have up their sleeves to get at him.
Pity about that Casey guy leaving... he seemed pretty mysterious. Wouldn't have minded getting to know him a bit better Well suppose I should get back to work. Emmett has eyes everywhere. |
